For eight years The Hannah Foundation Inc. fundraised to purchase the perfect property that would become the first Hannah Sanctuary.
Rita Lynd made a promise to Hannah (an orphaned boxer dog) that she would create a place for orphaned dogs to live out the rest of their lives in peace and comfort. Hannahs story and Ritas promise led to the creation of the not-for-profit Hannah Foundation Inc., which was established in 2011. The Foundation held many fundraisers including; garage sales, long table dinners and more, to enable them to reach their goal.
Thanks to the hard-work of many wonderful volunteers the Hannah Foundation Inc. were able to purchase the perfect property in Spreyton, Tasmania and on the 20th of February 2019 they held the official opening of the Hannah Sanctuary.

Banjo is the first resident of the Hannah Sanctuary.
A significant amount of work was required to transform the predominantly bush property into the dog paradise that it now is. There were many trees that needed to be removed, gardens to be planted, sheds to be built, slabs to be poured, walking tracks to be constructed, driveways to be widened, gardens to be established, fences to be built, windows to be replaced and walls to be painted.
Thanks to the dedication and generosity of many wonderful volunteers Rita and the Hannah Foundation Inc. were able to honour the promise made to Hannah and the Hannah Sanctuary accepted the first resident in December 2019.
